Crochet Balloons Pattern

5852107474_c87ddd768f

Hello everyone!
If you've been following my blog for a long time, you'd know that I used to have an obsession for paper crafting. In fact I made way too many cards; I still have them in my shoe boxes under my bed. I do give them for friends' birthdays and other special occasions but I guess I made just too many of them. And since I love crocheting, I crocheted some embellishments for my cards.

Here is my favorite one! You might be wondering why I'm posting this card. It's mainly because I've been getting many hits from those who are looking for crochet pattern for balloons. Since I've deleted all my old posts on card making, I think they can't find the balloon pattern that they're looking for. The photo from deleted blog posts still show up on google searches for some weird reasons, which is pretty annoying.

This pattern is from Elizabeth and you can check it out HERE.

I didn't do the tail part from the pattern thou. I must say this is my favorite crochet balloon pattern, and there aren't many out there!

So enjoy and share with me if you've used this pattern in any of your projects.

On a side note, if you love short stories, Mitch has posted some new stories on his blog, including a twitter fiction where he wrote a story using only 140 characters; short and intriguing! I hope you'll check it out. (:

Thanks for dropping by and hope you'll have a fabulous week!

Roses are Red..

Blue Rose Brooch

........................................

Red Rose Ring
........................................

Hey everyone!
I feel so horrible for disappearing for one whole week!
There was a Physics test on Friday and I have a few labs too, and one week just flew by!
Just a quick update, really, because I still got to get back to my studies.

I have been busy making roses, I have put up a few on my Etsy Shop.
I WILL be back with the pattern for them soon, they are so easy and quick to make!
I'm sure you'll enjoy it as much as I do!

For the red rose, I used Anchor Embroidery thread (100% Viscose/Rayon).
It is such a gorgeous bright red; I am so in love with these threads.
And the rose comes out slightly stiff, so it holds the beautiful rose shape really well.
Cotton embroidery threads are cheaper, but they are a bit soft and do not hold the rose shape too well, in my opinion.

I used a really small hook for those roses, its 0.95mm. Anything larger would make the rose a bit out of shape.

I hope you like it! (:
Again, thanks for dropping by and for all the lovely comments.
Share with me if you have crocheted/knitted any flower too (: I'd love to see some!

Free Daisy Flower Crochet Pattern

IMG_20120303_122314E

IMG_20120219_161841 - Copy

Hello there (:
I made those flowers a few weeks back and I finally took some photos to share with you (:
I haven't used most of the flowers for anything, but I've used 3 of them to make them into a necklace.
I was kind of into jewellery making and I still have all the necessary tools and lots of supplies.

If you don't have the tools for making the necklace, you can just simply sew the 3 flowers together and use crochet chain as the necklace instead of the silver one that I'm using.

---------------------

Anyway, here is the pattern for the flowers:

ch = chains ss = slip stitch sc = single crochet

6ch, ss into the 1st stitch to make a ring

Round 1: 1ch (counts as 1sc), 11sc into the ring, ss into the 1st ch to complete the round

Change yarn colour.

Round 2: [11ch, ss into the next sc] x 11 REPEATS, 11ch, ss into the ss of Round 1.
Fasten off and weave in ends.

My Current Knits

Hey everyone! (:
Well, firstly TGIF! I had a long week with 2 tests and lots of lectures.
Didn't the week just fly by?!
It's March now and that means it's a month closer to May, I'm going to Australia again in May :D
Can't wait!

So guess what? I've gotten back into knitting.
You see, I spent too much money on yarns, and I feel quite guilty to spend more on laptop case when I can just make one!
I've been intending to make one since, well, last December...But never got around to it..
And now that I need to bring my laptop to school pretty often, I need one kind of urgently.
Right now, I just stuff my laptop into my huge tote bag and I have a feeling I'd slam it against the door or something some day and break it...
Well, that's how I shattered my tablet's screen. I threw my bag onto my bed so hard, it slammed against the wall beside my bed and my poor tablet became pretty much useless [and it's a gift from Mitch too! :(..]

So, you see why I need a laptop case quite badly.
Anyway, here it is!

I'm liking how it's turning out so far. I'm hoping I've got all the measurements right and the case fits perfectly. I had to restart it about 3 times, cos I casted-on too many stitches.

When I finish, I'll share the free pattern with you! Stay tuned!

Happy weekends! (:

9 Petals Flower Doily Crochet FREE Pattern

Pattern 1

Hey everyone! (:
I'm back with a new pattern for you :D You can download it at the end of the post.

---------------

Just some ramblings (: Right after I published my previous post, I was checking my blog stats and I realised I've been getting visitors from this beautiful blog!
The blog hostess, Natasja, bought a pair of earrings from my Etsy Shop, and she loves it! :D
I'm soo happy to have another customer, and I was soo surprised and really flattered that she wrote a full blog post about my item and my shop. You can read about it all HERE.
She has a beautiful Etsy Shop too, named crochetTime. You have to check it out! (:

More ramblings..I've been busy with school, it's a test period at school and I just sat for my Maths test a few hours ago. I was in school for 2 till 9pm+...
I have another test tomorrow on material science, and that's my second last one, so yay!

---------------

Back to the crocheting..I came up with this pattern when I was staying up late to wake up Mitch early for his work. I thought I'd do my studies, but I got really tired and all I could possibly do to keep myself awake is crocheting.

This is a really easy pattern, using basic stitches: chain, slip stitch, single, half double and double crochet.

I used Moda Vera Marvel Plain 5 Ply (100% Acrylic) for the red petals, crocheted using 3/0 (2.2mm) needle.
My coaster measured about 11 cm in diameter.

I hope you enjoy the pattern and if you have any question about the pattern, just leave me a comment or email me.

Have a great day! (:

Rippled Edge Crochet Coaster Pattern

IMG_20120222_173744

Hey everyone!
After spending so much times taking pictures and writing down the pattern in proper terms, my very first doily pattern is ready for you! You can check out my previous post to see more pictures of the doily. BTW, you can download the pattern at the end of this post.

Before you jump into the pattern, I just want to show you how to get the nice circular lines between each rounds. I hope you can see the concentric circles on the doily.

IMG_20120224_210521
So, as you know, this is the edge of your doily after crocheting one round.
Take note of the chain pattern going on at the edge.

IMG_20120224_205547
And this is how you would NORMALLY insert your needle into the stitch of previous round.

IMG_20120224_210418
BUT, for this pattern, you insert your needle to the middle of the edge chain.

And you'll get nice raised concentric circles on the doily like this!
IMG_20120222_171039

If you don't get what I'm trying to show, than, just ignore it and just simply follow the pattern.
You will still get a lovely coaster, just without those raised concentric circles (:

(Edited to add: I used Moda Vera Pure Wool 8Ply with needle size 4/0.)

Enjoy and let me know what you think about it!
Thanks for dropping by and have a nice weekend!

Rippled Edge Crocheted Coasters

Hey everyone! (:
So, the other day, my family was watching Predators and I was too bored, so I joined them.
But lately, I've been telling myself not to waste so much time in front of TV.
I just always feel guilty after spending hours watching movies...and not finishing any of my school assignment or crochet project :P
So, I normally grab my yarns and crochet while kind of watching the movie, and that's how I ended up with these coasters/doilies and a brand new pattern of mine! (:

I'll share a pdf file of the pattern soon, I just haven't had time to do it.
I have tests next week (EKK!) and been sort of preparing for them...

I have so many photos to share with you! I sooo enjoy taking photos of the projects, probably as much as I enjoy making them. I ended up with about 50 photos! LOL..
When I was taking photos, my three-year-old nephew was having fun disturbing me..
Here is him, sitting on my chair, after getting yelled many times by me ( :P ) and still insist on watching me take photos.

IMG_20120222_174517

I don't mind him watching, but then, he doesn't stop there.
He pokes my coasters, sits on them, jumps on my bed (I was taking photos on my bed), etc..
But, how can I get mad at him, when he's looking soo adorable and he keeps saying he won't go away cos he loves me? :D

Anyway....I've made the coasters in 2 colours, creamy white and dark blue.
As I've mentioned in my previous post, I'm obsessed with these 2 colours and the whole nautical theme. :D
The coasters measured about 13 cm in diameter, and the middle flat circle is about 10 cm in diameter.
The thing I love about this coaster is that the edges are actually not flat, they're crinkling; it gives the coasters really nice rippled edges.
And here are the photos, I would really appreciate it if you could let me know what you think about them! (: Thank you.
